Take off shoes and socks Normally, you have to remove your shoes and socks, leave your hat or umbrella at the entrance of any Buddhist constructions and homes of local people but there are still some exceptions. It’s better to observe the locals around. Dress conservatively Burmese people always cover their feet and shoulders. When entering the spiritual sites, you should avoid wearing short skirts, shorts, sleeveless shirts or see – through attires. Dress code applies for both men and women. Don’t use your feet to touch or point at people, pagodas or religious items. You should also tuck your feet inside your body and do not turn your back at the Buddha images when sitting.
